Crochet Shell Border

crochet shell border edging

Crochet Shell Border Pattern is very fun and easy.

The pattern has only one row, so it is fast to make it.

Therefore, I use it for summer projects like scarves, shawls, summer tops and the like.

Because of the summer I used:

  • sport cotton yarn
  • Hook 3 mm (C2 or D/3)

Crochet Shell Border Pattern (US terms):

Abbreviations in the pattern:

  • sl st – slip stitch
  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • ch-3 picot – ch 3 and make 1 sl st in the first chain
  • shell – 2 dc, 1 picot, 2 dc

Let me first say that the border is for the fillet stitch: 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc.

So, START with the sl st in the first dc.

Then, skip the next ch-1 space, (2 dc, 1 picot, 2 dc) in the next dc.

This means that the first shell (2 dc, 1 picot, 2 dc) is completed.

Then repeat:

(skip the next ch-1 space, 1 sl st in the next dc, skip the next ch-1 space, 1 shell in the next dc) as you need.

So, you can see the shell pattern in the photo as well as in the video.
