Granny square Classic is the most popular crochet item.
You can use it for crocheting blankets, ponchos, bags, shawls.
Personally I like granny squares in all colors and different combinations.
For the first, I would present you my favorite granny square which is very simple to make.
Because of that, it is very suitable for beginners.
Of course, you can make it with different yarn and in your favorite color combination.
Material: pink and white cotton yarn 137yd / 50gr (125m / 50gr)
Hook: E4 (3.5mm)
Dimensions: 2.76in x 2.76in (7cm x 7cm)
Granny square Classic pattern instructions (US terms)
ch-chain
dc-double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
START: Use pink yarn and chain 4, then form a ring with 1 sl st in the first chain.
Round 1: ch 2, 2 dc in the ring, ch 3, (3 dc, ch 3) repeat 3 times in the ring, 1 sl st in the first dc-stitch after first ch 2.
Then, cut and fasten off.
Round 2: Use white yarn and ch 2, 2 dc in the upper right side around chain space as it is shown bellow,
(ch 1, 3 dc around next chain space, ch 3, 3 dc around the same chain space) repeat 3 times, ch 1, 3 dc around next chain space, ch 3, 1 sl st in the first dc-stitch after first ch 2. So, you can cut and fasten off.
Finally Round 3: Use pink yarn and ch 2 around chain space in the upper right side, 2 dc around the same space, (ch 1, 3 dc around next chain space, ch 1, 3 dc around next chain space, ch 3, 3 dc around the same chain space) repeat 3 times, (ch 1, 3 dc around next chain space) repeat twice, ch 3 and 1 sl st in the first dc stitch after first ch 2. Then, cut and fasten off.
