Granny Square Pattern Easy

crochet easy granny square

Granny Square Pattern Easy is a cute crochet pattern.

You can make it very easy for blankets, shawls, scarves, cardigans.

Аnd what is important you can do even if you are a beginner.

So, for this square I used two colors.

Of course, you can make it in your favorite combination.

So, I used:

  • acrylic sport yarn (yellow and green)
  • Hook 4 mm (G/6)

So, if you use sport yarn, the dimensions of the granny square you will get are:

9.5 cm X 9.5 cm (3.74 in X 3.74 in)

Granny Square Pattern Easy (US terms):

The abbreviations in the pattern:

  • sl st – slip stitch
  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • dc – double crochet

First, the pattern has 5 rounds.

So, START with yellow yarn, ch 4 and make a ring with 1 sl st in the first chain from the hook.

Then continue round 1 and round 2 again with yellow yarn.

Round 1: ch 1 and make 8 sc in the ring.

Then, finish round 1 with 1 sl st in the first sc from the beginning of the round.

Round 2: work in each of the 8 sc as shown in the list:

  • ch 6 (counts as 1 dc+ch 3), 1 dc in the very first sc
  • 1 dc in the next sc, ch 1, 1 dc in the same sc (2nd sc)
  • 1 dc in the next sc, ch 3, 1 dc in the same sc (3rd sc)
  • 1 dc in the next sc, ch 1, 1 dc in the same sc (4th sc)
  • 1 dc in the next sc, ch 3, 1 dc in the same sc (5th sc)
  • 1 dc in the next sc, ch 1, 1 dc in the same sc (6th sc)
  • 1 dc in the next sc, ch 3, 1 dc in the same sc (7th sc)
  • 1 dc in the next sc, ch 1, 1 dc in the same sc (8th sc)

So, to finish round 2, make 1 sl st in the 3rd ch from the beginning of the round.

Continue with Round 3 with green yarn.

So, begin Round 3 with ch 3 and 2 dc in the upper right side around any ch-3 space.

Then, repeat (ch 1, 3 dc around the next ch-1 space, ch 1, 3 dc around the next ch-3 space, ch 3, 3 dc around the same ch-3 space) 3 times.

So, continue with ch 1, 3 dc around the next ch-1 space, ch 1, 3 dc around
the next ch-3 space, ch 3.

Finally, 1 sl st in the third chain from the beginning of round.

Continue with Round 4 with yellow yarn.

So, begin Round 4 with ch 3 and 2 dc around any ch-3 space in the upper right side.

Then repeat (3 dc around next ch-1 space, 3 dc around next ch-1 space, 3
dc around next ch-3 space, ch 3, 3 dc around the same ch-3 space) 3 times.

Then make 3 dc around next ch-1 space, 3 dc around next ch-1 space, 3 dc around next ch-3 space, ch 3.

Finally, 1 sl st in the third ch from beginning of round.

Continue with Round 5 with green yarn.

So, simply crochet sc border around the square.

This round is optional.
